The sacred Octagear, the main symbol of Hacca Craft, is a circular figure which resembles a gear wheel with eight teeth and a central hole. The teeth are interconnected by a star figure (octagram) and identified by the eight trigrams which have been put in the xiantian arrangement.
The Octagear can be regarded as a simplification of the Figure of Emanation: the central hole is associated with the Holy Nullity, the star with the emanation process and the eight trigrams with the neverending manifestations.
The gear shape is a tribute to the ancient mechanicians and hackers such as Archimedes, Heron, Da Vinci and Leibniz.
Other circular eight-fold figures found in religious and occult symbolism include the Buddhist Dharmachakra, the Chaosphere, and the Wheel of the Year.
