Hackerdom is magic if it produces something that has a magical glamor: unbelievable and unexplainable things, mechanisms which work altho they should not, apparent impossibilities, etc.

Magic tends to lose its glamor once the techniques involved become common knowledge. Therefore, true magical art is progressive, continuously creating new forms of magic rather than merely cultivating the old ones.

Magical practice requires imagination, intuition, intelligence, and a capability of transcending common understanding in unique ways which open new and unexplored frontiers.
